Who this fits
GT America suits a driver who wants responsibility for an entire short race in an SRO paddock. It is a good place to develop individual racecraft. It is a different championship from GT4 America and GT World Challenge America.
The 2026 format is two 40-minute, single-driver sprint races per weekend. If sharing the race itself is the objective, compare GT4 America.
Cars and race preparation
The official overview lists SRO3, GT2 and GT4 machinery. The 2026 updates also discuss Cup entries. The organizer approves the exact model, specification and class under the season’s technical regulations.
Preparation emphasizes qualifying, starts, traffic decisions and preserving the car with no teammate to reset the race. A team may support several drivers or cars.
Requirements and 2027
The USAC/SRO licensing process is separate from buying or renting a car. The portal says 2027 registration opens November 15. Get the license, class and car requirements directly from SRO.
The provisional 2027 calendar has seven weekends.

How I help
I coach the sprint objective at the track and in the simulator, and I review your data with you. We structure the work around measurable driving problems: qualifying, starts, traffic and race management. If an endurance program is your goal, I help you compare the two formats.
Questions drivers ask
Can I split a GT America race?
No. The 2026 format is single-driver. For a driver change, choose a shared-car championship such as GT4 America.
How does GT4 America differ?
GT4 America has its own GT4 field, two-driver entries and sporting structure. GT World Challenge America is the GT3 endurance program.
